This weekend, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu event was held in California, just weeks before the Mundials. The event consisted of equipment booths, seminars, a meet and greet with the best competitors around and a handful of superfights. This post will be an overview of the World Jiu Jitsu Expo outcome.

In the earlier World Jiu Jitsu Expo outcome, Kyra Gracie outpointed Aliexis Davis 5-0. Kyra Gracie then passed the guard and time expired with Kyra Gracie in side control. Bill Cooper then won a back and forth match with Nino Schembri via ref’s decision after Nino Schembri tied the match with a footlock.

As the day wore on the matches became more and more dramatic. With Rafael Lovato Jr winning a match with Lucas Leite – a description of his World Jiu Jitsu Expo outcome are available here. Kron Gracie defeated Victor Estima by an advantage (4-4 on points), getting revenge for his recent loss to Victor Estima by knee reaping. After the match things got heated when Kron mimiced Victor’s celebration. The Jeff Glover vs Caio Terra match lived up to expectations, with Glover winning 10-6 in the final moments of the match. Oh, and Nick Diaz didn’t show up – so there was no main event.

ufc on foxUFC on Fox 3 Outcome!

Last Saturday, the UFC put on the exciting event of UFC on Fox 3. UFC on Fox featured Nate Diaz against Jim Miller on a four fight main card that also included Rousimar Palhares vs Alan Belcher, Josh Koscheck vs Johny Hendricks, and Pat Barry vs Lavar Johnson.

The main event of UFC on Fox was also a special fight because it was also awarded submission of the night. Nate Diaz looked in the zone, as he outclassed Jim Miller with accurate strikes that even dropped Jim Miller. Nate Diaz slapped on a sweet guillotine choke. The co main event was the exact opposite of the main event, where Johny Hendricks defeated Josh Koscheck via split decision. A much closer margin compared to that of Nate Diaz’ match.

Rousimar Palhares was defeated by Alan Belcher by TKO from elbows and punches in round one. This is very impressive as Rousimar Palhares is one of the best NoGi leg lock guys in the world, with 6 of his 10 submissions coming via heel hook and a silver medal in ADCC. Another upset happened in the first fight of the main card ofUFC on Fox 3, with Lavar Johnson TKO’ing Pat Barry in the first round.

Frank Mir Will Face Junior Dos Santos For Heavyweight Title| 30 Day Free Trial| Team Lovato OK

frank mirFrank Mir Will Face Junior Dos Santos For Heavyweight Title . . .

With the entire scandal involving Alistair Overeem’s testosterone levels, their was a vacant spot in the UFC heavy weight championship fight against Junior Dos Santos. Dana White extended the offer to Frank Mir, who readily accepted the fight.

Frank Mir is a long time veteran in the UFC. He holds an MMA record of 16-5. He made his UFC debut in UFC 34 and won the UFC heavy weight championship in UFC 48. He never defended the championship as he experienced a horrible motorcycle accident. 9 of his wins were via submission, 8 of which were in the UFC, a UFC heavy weight division record. He also holds the UFC heavy weight division record for wins at 14.

Frank Mir is a legend in the UFC heavy weight division, but after his losses to Shane Carwin and Brock Lesnar it seemed that he was not able to compete with the super strong heavy weights. He is still relevant though, as he is on a three fight win streak. After Carwin, he KO’ed Mirko Cro Cop, won a decision over Roy Nelson quite handily, then most recently he popped Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira winning submission of the night and submission of the year. Personally I would love to see him fight Junior Dos Santos or Alistair Overeem.

If you live in Oklahoma City and would like to learn the same techniques as used byFrank Mir, Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem, come to Lovato’s School of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Take up our 30 Day Free Trial and get started training today.

Can’t wait to see Frank Mir in action against Junior Dos Santos and for Alistair Overeem to get back in the mix!
